Al Fatihah Dr Amin Tai & Dr Haliza

Missing doctors found dead in ravine

By M. KUMAR

KUALA LUMPUR: The two specialist doctors, missing since Wednesday, were found dead deep in a ravine near the Klang Gates in Ulu Ampang Saturday morning.

Search and rescue teams had a tough time airlifting them out as ravine was thickly forested.

Police believe the two had slipped and fallen when they went hiking at the popular hiker’s place in Bukit Tabuh near Taman Melawati.

Haliza Mohd Shafiee, 53, and Amin Tai Abdullah @ Tai Yen Ming, 57, - a paediatrician and a paediatric surgeon at a medical centre in Ampang - were reported missing since Wednesday.

The families of Haliza and Amin Tai, both fond of jungle trekking, had made police reports when they did not return home Wednesday night, State Chief Police Officer Deputy Commissioner Datuk Khalid Abu Bakar had said Friday

Police received information that Haliza’s car was found Saturday morning. Tracker dogs and a helicopter search spotted the two, said Ampang Deputy OCPD Supt Amiruddin Jamaluddin.

The bodies were found decomposed.

Personally I tak kenal both dua doktor ni..tapi Dr Amin Tai yang mengkhatankan Eriq dan Champ. The best paediatric surgeon....what a tragic! Kalau tak silap now ni Debby pun still ada appointment dengan Dr Amin ni kat Gleneagles.... As for Dr Haliza few time masa kat APSH jumpa dia coz her clinic tak jauh from Dr Marlik. Anyway masa princess admitted to APSH early this month, Dr Chris yang on called..masa tu we all ingat nak jumpa Dr Haliza but we changed our mind. Semoga roh mereka dicucuri rahmat ..alfatihah.

I myself do not personally know these doctors.. But I live in Taman Melawati and saw a fire on the very top of the hills at almost midnight on Monday. I then called the Bomba and informed them. They came but by the time they arrived, the fire had died.. I saw some lights which I couldn't make out and which I now know were their flares.
The past few days after the fire, I have actually stopped my car many times on my way to/from my house and I would stare at that spot on the hills, wondering what it's all about. And today, I saw the heli and later, I heard the news..
I wish there was more that I could do for them. I wish I had recognised the flares for what they were.
That area is memang very keras. Something must have gone horribly wrong for them up there. :'(

This is my dad that u are talking about and you are definitely telling a lie. Both of them died as soon as they skidded. He went missing only by Wednesday. Please have some respect for them.

Al-fatihah to both families of the doctors. I just met with the late Dr Haliza with my son who was sick at that time, on the 20th March 09, and she was as warm and personal as ever. My prayers go out to her and may she be placed with Golongan Yang Beriman - Amin.

I am the writer of the first comment. I am only writing what I saw. My deepest condolences to the families of both doctors and this is a huge loss that deeply saddens many, even me who do not know them. If they went missing on wednesday, then I rest easy knowing that maybe the flares were by some other hikers who were later rescued. Wallahualam. Again, my deepest and most sincere apologies.

Alfatihah untuk kedua-dua Doktor pakar kanak2 ini. 4 tahun lepas Allahyarham Dr Amin telah mengubah kehidupan anak saya, dengan izin Allah. Cara beliau handle patient memang membuat kami hilang rasa resah.Apatah lagi pendapat dari third party (Pakar dari hospital lain) sanagt menakutkan.Anak saya selamat menjalni pembedahan dileher dan hnaya sehari saja bermalam dihospital.Dia memang seorang pakar! Kita kehilangan Dr yang hebat.
Semoga Allah mencucuri rahmat keatas roh mereka..Aminnn!

kebenaran,
you called yourself a doctor?
i feel sad and pity you, other than paper qualification, you do not have any compassion nor attitude of such a noble profession.

just google for both of the doctors name, so many people whose lives were touched by the two doctors, spoke very highly and fondly of them both.

i am glad i knew them personally, Amin, he's always helpful guy, caring and a true friend.
Harliza with her bubbly character, positive attitude and warm smiles.
i miss you both.
may you rest in peace.

condolences to both families.
